BAPTISM PARENT MEETINGS

The greatest day of one’s life is the day they become united to the Blessed Trinity in Baptism. All parents desiring Baptism for their child are asked to attend a short pre-baptismal class prior to Baptism which includes meeting with other couples preparing to have their children baptized, a talk from the Pastor, and a witness talk from a couple from the Parish about the joy of raising their children in the Faith. This preparation helps parents focus their family on Christ! 

Sponsors for Baptism, alongside the parents, are to be the key witnesses for children in how to live the faith. Thus, they must be actively practicing their Catholic Faith and present a letter of Recommendation from their parish indicating their commitment and faithfulness. Church law requires that a candidate for Baptism for membership in the church community should be sponsored by a baptized and confirmed member of the Catholic Church who is willing and able to help the child develop and grow in the Catholic Faith. There must be at least one sponsor or godparent. In the case where there are two sponsors, one must be male and the other female.  The maximum number of sponsors is two.  The minimum age for a baptized and confirmed Catholic to be a sponsor is sixteen (16) years of age. A baptized Christian non-Catholic may not be a sponsor, but may act as a Christian witness. Non-baptized persons may not officially act as a sponsor or a witness to a Baptism of a child in the Catholic faith.
