Children's Liturgy of the Word

“The Church looks to the young, or rather the Church in a special way sees herself in the young”

Blessed John Paul II

What is Children’s Liturgy of the Word ?

Children are dismissed before the 1st reading  to listen to the readings and Gospel of the Mass taken from the Lectionary for Masses with Children.  The Creed and Prayer of the Faithful are included to enhance their experience of Mass. They are returned to the congregation after the Prayer of the Faithful.

We have made plans to expand our Children’s Liturgy program this fall.

On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at the 10:00am Mass:

 1.  Children ages 4 and 5 will be dismissed to hear the readings and Gospel and experience them at their age level . We adhere to the readings of the day. There will be the Creed, the Prayer of the Faithful and a basket for their small donations for the collection.  They will meet in the gathering room to the right of the Altar with their facilitator.

2.  Children ages 6 thru 8  will be dismissed to the Chapel.  They will take a more active part by doing the readings, discussing and sometimes role playing. The Creed and Prayer of the Faithful and Collection will also be a part of their experience.

We welcome Mrs. Billi and Mrs. Kren as our facilitators.  Young adult volunteers are welcome to help as aids in each room. Our youth are our future, we love them and want to nourish them in their faith.  Please call Sharon Kirsch 674-2497 or the Faith Formation Office 674-9145 with any questions.
