Join us here at St. John Vianney on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. in the Church for a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus that is traditionally followed at Christmas. The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music.
Eight lectors from various parish organizations will proclaim the Christmas story. The Choirs of the St. John Vianney Music Ministry, under the direction of Paul Waara and Chuck Basil, will perform carols and songs connected to each reading, and lead the congregation in hymns.
Songs and carols to be featured on the program include “Do You Hear What I Hear?,” “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “In the Bleak Mid-winter,” “Sussex Carol,” and many more.
All are welcome for this time of prayer and song in preparation for the Nativity of Our Lord!

Chuck enjoys the wonderful adult and child's choirs that he has built here at St. John Vianney and looks forward to their continued growth with new members. Adult choir rehearsals are Wednesday evenings during the school year with performances during the many liturgical seasons.
