Sister Jacqueline Weigle, GNSH, who began her ministry in our parish in January 2004, is a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart. Prior to entering her order, she worked for Bell of Pennsylvania for seventeen years, leaving as a Staff Manager.
Born in Western Pennsylvania, she is the oldest of four children. After moving several times due to her father's job, the family moved to Philadelphia when Sr. Jackie was in eighth grade. She attend Cardinal Dougherty High School where she met the Grey Nuns and was impressed with their teaching and kindness, and the history of their foundress, St. Marguerite d'Youville. She attended D'Youville College and graduated with a degree in Social Work with minors in Gerontology and Psychology.
Prior to moving to Buffalo and coming to St. John Vianney, she was the founding Administrator of D'Youville Manor, an assisted living facility for men and women which she managed for fifteen years.
Always having an affinity for the elderly, she was delighted to continue working with the elderly and their families in her position here. Sister visits our elderly parishioners in their homes, or in hospital, hospice, medical, rehab and retirement home settings. She feels that is a privilege to gain the confidence of these individuals and tries to model her foundress, Sr. Marguerite, who treated every person with respect, affection and a deep understanding of human needs. As she says:
"Like Marguerite, I find great beauty in their aged faces and am touched by the beauty of their souls".
