Science
We are in the middle of Chapter 13 - Electricity and Magnetism.
The students have done labs that show how static electricity affects
objects. They made a closed circuit, a series circuit, a
parallel circuit, and a switch. We tested materials to
determine if they are insulators or conductors. Students will
make their own electro boards. Students will observe the
effects of magnetic fields and they will make an electromagnet.
I hope your child is excited about science. They should enjoy
all the labs we are doing.
Language Arts
We continue our work on verbs. We will focus on main verbs,
helping verbs, linking verbs, and irregular verbs. We have
been playing games, charades, and practicing on our dry-erase boards
to reinforce our new skills.
Reading
We continue to work on Unit 4. Our targeted skills include
identifying text structure, summarizing, and plot development. We
will put on a play called "Blame it on the Wolf." Our Reading
goal for March is 465 minutes. Please be sure your child is
reading for at least 15 minutes every single day, including weekends
and days off. Please continue to record the number of minutes
read each night in the planner. this seems to be working out
well.
Religion
We will begin Unit 4 soon, which is about so many roles people play
in the Christian community.
