The St. John Vianney sports program is a three-season program with an emphasis
on participation. We attempt to offer sports that appeal to the different
interests and abilities of all children, as we believe that participation in a
competitive sport is a valuable part of our educational program.
Participation in school sports also helps promote school spirit and a sense of
pride in the participants. All of our coaches stress fair play, sportsmanship,
teamwork, effort, competition and having fun. Student athletes are taught
fundamentals and to put forth their best effort at all times.

Our coaches are all parent volunteers, many with extensive sports backgrounds
including competition in high school, college and recreational levels. Many of
them also coach in town and local leagues.
At the end of each school year, St. John Vianney holds its annual Award’s
Banquet. This evening is dedicated to honoring SJV students for their year-long
commitment to excellence in academic performance. In order to receive scholar
recognition, students in grades 3-8 must have achieved either Merit or Honor
Roll status for the first three marking periods. In addition, all SJV athletes
are recognized for their ongoing accomplishments and efforts in sports and team
play. Sports awards are given to all athletic participants in grades K-8.
