The mission of St. John Vianney School is to provide a faith based community, which fosters the academic, religious and moral development of all students. We strive to make education a positive, successful experience that will promote life-long learners. As a faith community, we share the life of Christ and demonstrate respect and concern for all persons. This school environment will prepare students for effective, responsible living and leadership in the 21st century.

Our Philosophy

We, at St. John Vianney School, strive to create a school community grounded in Jesus and His way. Because we are Catholic, our chief purpose is to communicate the Good News, the news that we are deeply loved by Jesus who lived, died, and rose that we might live. Since we believe In His total and unique love for each person, we aim to help each member of this faith community to recognize his/her potential. Not only is it our goal to ground them in Catholic doctrine, but more importantly, to create an environment to move this knowledge from the intellect to the heart. Through the good example of deeply Christian teachers, and the cooperation and support of concerned and interested parents, we struggle to show the students the value of membership in this community of believers. It is the ideal of our school to bring our students to full participating membership in this community. The Catholic tradition gives us a way of living our beliefs and participating this community. In living out this Christianity, we want each student to be aware of his/her companions and to develop a deep concern for others.

Parents of our children have freely chosen to be involved with their child(ren) in this Catholic school and therefore assume a partnership with the school faculty and parish community.

Catholic School Philosophy

The duty and right of educating belongs in a unique way to the Church which has been divinely entrusted with the mission to assist men and women so that they can arrive at the fullness of the Christian life. (Canon 794, # 1)

The educational mission of the Church is clearly described by the American Bishops in their pastoral, To Teach as Jesus Did. This mission embraces a ministry which integrates: - Message - proclaiming and teaching God's word. - Worship - celebrating the Sacred Mysteries. - Community - sharing the life of Christ. - Service - responding to the needs, and rights of the people of God.

Church documents and current research demonstrate that Catholic schools are the most effective means to accomplish the educational mission entrusted to the Church by Jesus Christ.

This special mission sets Catholic schools apart from public schools and other private schools. By design, Catholic schools are faith tradition communities which foster the academic, religious, and value development of their students. Catholic schools prepare students for effective and responsible living and leadership in our world.
